BSL taster course

Want to have fun and try something new?
Our Taster Course is the perfect start to British Sign Language (BSL) for those who are not ready to commit to a full SQA course or just want to learn some basics for fun!
Our courses are all taught by qualified deaf tutors, so you’ll be learning from people who use BSL as their native language. As Deaf Action is a charity, when you book your BSL course through us, the income is reinvested back into improving services for deaf people.

Progression from this taster course takes you onto the SQA Introduction to BSL course. The SQA Introduction to BSL course will need to be completed before you can progress to the SQA Level 1 BSL course.
Course details
Orkney
Our BSL taster courses are available in-person in Orkney. Classes take place at St Magnus Centre, Kirkwall, Orkney.
Course dates: 16th January to 27th February (no class on 6th Feb)
Time: Monday evenings, 7pm to 9pm
Price: This 6-week course is £95
Dumfries
Our BSL taster courses are available in-person in Dumfries. Classes take place at The Stove Network, 100 High Street, Dumfries DG1 2BJ.
Course dates: 20th February to 27th March 2023
Time: Monday afternoons, 1:30pm to 3:30pm

Castle Douglas
Our BSL taster courses are available in-person in Castle Douglas. Classes take place at CatStrand, High Street, New Galloway, Castle Douglas, DG7 3RN.
Course dates: 20th February to 27th March 2023
Time: Monday afternoons, 10am to 12pm
